Being Becky G: Home for the Holidays
Celeb contributor Becky G invites us inside her home for the holidays.
Dec. 27, 2012— -- Christmas with my family is always a blast and the best time of the year for me. Although we exchange presents and surprise each other with great gifts, for us the true meaning behind Christmas is Jesus' birthday and the time we spend with each other to make our bond closer. We all cook and bring different types of food for our yummy dinner.
This year, we made green and red posole, and green and red enchiladas. We also had many other dishes like ham, pot roast, chicken tostadas, yummy desserts and the famous tamales. After dinner, we typically dance to all types of music until we can dance no more. This year, we danced to everything from banda music to Drake to Psy!
Before we open presents, we sit around the tree and sing songs and talk about all that's happened in the past year. Then thirty minutes before midnight, we pray the rosario (rosary) with mygrandparents. All 17 grandchildren, and moms and dads and grandparents give thanks for all we have and pray for those who are less fortunate. This year, we also all said a special prayer for the parents and victims of the tragedy in Sandy Hook elementary.
When the clock strikes midnight, we all exchange hugs and then sit around the tree and open presents. When we exchange gifts, the person who is giving the gift has to say something special about the person they're giving it to.
I am very blessed to have such a loving family and to have so much love around me. I had a wonderful Christmas. I hope you did, too.
Here's a homemade video of me cooking, singing, and dancing with my family on Christmas Eve.
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
