Mario Balotelli Offers Up Girlfriend as Prize in Soccer Bet. Bad Idea?
April 30, 2013— -- Notorious soccer superstar Mario Balotelli could well find himself without a girlfriend after his latest analysis of the Real Madrid versus Borussia Dortmund Champions League semi final.
"If Real Madrid beats Borussia Dortmund and qualifies for the Champions League final, I'll allow my girlfriend [Belgian model Fanny Neguesha] to sleep with all of them," the Milan striker said, according to Spanish newspaper Marca
Madrid faces an uphill comeback battle after last week's 4-1 loss in Germany. They must win 3-0 to make it to the final without any hassle. Or, they must win by more than three goals without letting Dortmund score two (a 4-1 win means extra time, followed by penalty kicks).
That means Balotelli's confidence is somewhat warranted, but his comments are still way, uh, inappropriate. At the same time, they are not that surprising, given the Italian forward's record.
Known as "el loco" to Spanish speakers around the world, Balotelli, one of Time's 100 most influential people, is known for his outlandish statements and eccentric behavior.
In the last couple of years, he has burned down his house while shooting off fireworks out of a window. He has also been photographed alongside Camorra bosses. He's donated thousands of dollars to charities and random homeless people he meets on the streets. He's even been pulled over by the Milan police for shooting a gun out of his car window (it turned out to be a toy gun). And last, but not least, he has fought with numerous team members. Oh, and he has repeatedly claimed that he is a genius.
Neguesha, who recently tattooed a declaration of love for him on her left arm, hasn't responded to Balotelli's comments.
