    Accessories and clothing brand Coach teamed up with Mattel for a $95 Barbie featuring a checked trench coat, striped jumper, suede skirt, sandals, and sunglasses. The doll is available for pre-orders to be shipped Aug. 26. For the first time ever, Barbie has a genuine leather bag, crafted by hand in a Coach workshop from the same glove-tanned leather as the full-size version.

    Pictured is the new "The Blonds Blond Diamond Barbie Doll," which is featured in the Fall 2012 issue of Barbie Collector magazine. New York fashion designers The Blonds have created a new "drag queen" Barbie, who is modeled after fashion designer Phillipe Blond, but is not directly referred to as a cross-dressing man. The doll features a mini corset dress and a full length faux fox fur.

    Mattel Inc. unveiled the Barbie "I Can Be…" President doll in March 2012, on sale in August 2012. Serving as the "B Party" candidate, Barbie is partnering with The White House Project, which promotes female leadership in business and politics. In a suit created by designer Chris Benz and with a new Tumblr blog, Barbie can stand on her own for the first time ever in two feet in pink wedge shoes.

    Japanese-inspired lifestyle brand tokidoki, created by Italian artist Simone Legno, launched a tattoo-clad Barbie, which has parents upset over the inked doll. The description of "tokidoki Barbie," released Oct. 13, 2011 on barbiecollector.com, states she is "always ready for cutting-edge fashion! This funky fashionista features trendy tattoos and a pink bob."

  • Farrah Fawcett Barbie Released By Mattel

    A Farrah Fawcett doll, complete with the iconic, one-piece red bathing suit and perfectly feathered hair made famous in a poster of the actress and 1970s icon, is now available from toy maker Mattel. The "Charlie Angels" actress passed away from cancer two years ago at the age of 62. Mattel has pledged to give a portion of the proceeds from sales of the limited-edition doll, available at <a href="http://www.barbiecollector.com" target="external">www.barbiecollector.com</a> for $34.95, to the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, created by the late actress and now run by her close friend, Alana Stewart.

  • Barbie's 50th Birthday

    Sugar's Daddy Ken -- known to some as "Sugar Daddy Ken" -- is part of a line of Palm Beach dolls by Mattel's Barbie. Mattel says that the doll's name refers to Ken's pet West Highland Terrier, Sugar, which is included with the doll along with several accessories. The Palm Beach collection is scheduled to go on sale next year.
