    More national chains are marketing gluten-free menu items that appeal to people even without celiac disease or dermatitis herpetiformis. On Oct. 15, California Pizza Kitchen partners with the Gluten Intolerance Group for gluten-free pizzas such as the Mushroom Pepperoni Sausage Pizza, a must-try item, with a chewier, thinner crust. CPK follows strict measures in a gluten-free kitchen section.

    Publicly-traded Crumbs Bake Shop opened its first gluten-free bakery in New York this month featuring a range of pastries. Its "Tastepack" is a bite-size sampler of its twelve gluten-free cupcakes: Red Velvet, Cookie Dough, Cookies n Cream, Blackout, Brownie, Carrot, Vanilla/Vanilla, Vanilla/Chocolate, Milkshake, Devil's Food, and Coconut/Vanilla. Half of the cupcakes are filled with frosting.

    Dunkin' Donuts recently introduced gluten-free donuts and muffins at participating locations, including a Cinnamon Sugar Donut for $1.89 and Blueberry Muffin for $2.39, certified by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization, a program of The Gluten Intolerance Group. The group has also worked with The Melting Pot and Outback Steakhouse.
