There'll be plenty of green this St. Patrick's Day: The National Retail Federation predicts consumers will spend $3.64 billion on the holiday, down from $3.76 billion in 2007. The expected sales dip is chalked up to the fact that St. Patrick's Day falls just a week before Easter this year. But there's still lots of St. Patrick's Day stuff to go around: Novelty vendor Jerry Roberts, of Hagerstown, Md., sold everything from plush puppies to green garters during a holiday parade in Hoboken, N.J. on March 1.
