Christie's scientific specialist James Hyslop holds up a chicken egg to scale the size of a sub-fossilised pre-17th century Elephant Bird egg that sold for $101,679, or 66,675 pounds, at the auction house in London. The Elephant Bird egg measures over 100 times the average size of a chicken egg, and stands at 21cm in diameter and 30cm in height. It was estimated to be worth $30,500 to $45,750.
