Rockwell Takes Smaller 4Q Loss on Greater Revenue

Rockwell Medical posts smaller 4th-quarter loss on improved sales and trimmed spending

Rockwell Medical Technologies Inc., which makes products used in the treatment of kidney disease and anemia, reported a smaller fourth-quarter loss Wednesday as its sales grew and expenses came down.

The company said it lost $550,000, or 3 cents per share. A year earlier Rockwell lost $3 million, or 22 cents per share. Revenue rose 9 percent to $14.8 million from $13.5 million.

According to a Thomson Reuters survey, analysts expected a wider loss of 7 cents per share and revenue of $14.4 million.

In afternoon trading, its shares fell 17 cents, or 2.8 percent, to $5.97.

For the full year, Rockwell reduced its loss to $5.5 million, or 37 cents per share, from $7.9 million, or 57 cents per share in 2008. Its revenue grew 6 percent to $54.7 million from $51.7 million.
