Slot machine maker WMS Industries says older people still gamble the most at casinos, but young players and minorities are the future of the industry.
The vice president of marketing for the Waukegan, Ill.-based company says he also believes that gamblers are less patient than ever before based on the results of a company effort to profile casino patrons.
WMS and marketing and research firm Ypartnership surveyed 2,000 gamblers who had visited a casino at least once in the past year, and found that baby boomers and seniors made up more than 60 percent of all active gamblers.
The survey said that minorities made up less than 10 percent of all active casino gamblers, far less than the minority population in the United States.
