Recalls This Week: DVD Players and Ceiling Fans

Product recalls this week include DVD players, ceiling fans, bicycle trailers

DVD players that could catch fire, a child's bicycle trailer with a faulty wheel and a ceiling fan that could come crashing down on your head are among the recalled products this week.

Those items were recalled along with a couple of food items including a Mexican-style soft cheese product that could be contaminated with Listeria and a wheat-free pancakes that might contain undeclared wheat, gluten, milk and egg.

PRODUCT: Black and Decker thermal coffee makers, made in China and distributed by Applica Consumer Products Inc. of Miramar, Fla. The recalled models are 8-cup programmable coffee makers sold at Wal-Mart and small retail stores nationwide from April 2008 through last month.

HOW MANY: About 9,000

WHY: The coffee makers can overheat and melt, posing a burn hazard. The company has received one report of a coffee maker melting. No injuries have been reported.

PRODUCT: Shop Fox dust collection remote switches, made in China by Woodstock International, of Bellingham, Wash. The recall involves a remote dust collector switch, which remotely turns on and off a woodworking dust collector. The recalled products were sold at woodworking stores nationwide from July 2008 through June this year.

HOW MANY: About 450

WHY: An incorrectly sized wire can overheat, posing a fire hazard. The company has received 10 reports of the remote switch overheating. No injuries have been reported.
