Va. Company to Design Army's Pacific Headquarters

Army awards $21.5 million Pacific headquarters contract to Virginia company

The military says it has awarded AECOM Design of Roanoke, Va., a $21.5 million contract to design and engineer the Army's new Pacific headquarters at Fort Shafter in Hawaii.

The Army Corps of Engineers said Monday the facility will house the Army's "command and control" headquarters for the Pacific.

U.S. Army Pacific commander Lt. Gen. Benjamin Mixon says the headquarters will help the Army support the U.S. alliance with South Korea and fulfill its other responsibilities in the region.
