Macy's Parade Balloons

At the 1941 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, Uncle Sam bestrides Times Square. It was the final march for this patriot. World War II began a few weeks later, and he was one of several balloons Macy's donated to the war effort, when rubber was scarce. (Macy's)
