— -- Jimmy Kimmel will be happy to know that Maggie Smith is ready to take her Emmy Award.

As host of the Emmys on Sunday night, Kimmel made several jokes at Smith's expense, poking fun at the fact that the "Downton Abbey" star is a frequent no-show when she's nominated.

Later during the ceremony, when Smith was announced as the winner for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series, for her role as the Dowager Countess of Grantham in "Downton," Kimmel walked onto the stage, grabbed the trophy and said, "No, no, no. We are not mailing this to her! It'll be in the lost and found."

Showing her sense of humor, Smith, 81, has responded to Kimmel in a statement posted on the Masterpiece PBS Twitter feed.

“I was very astonished and pleased to win the award. I feel the Emmys has been overly generous to me," the statement from the British actress reads. “If Mr. Kimmel could please direct me to the lost and found office I will try and be on the next flight. Love, Old Maggie."

This was Smith's third win for her role on "Downton Abbey."
