— -- For the fourth consecutive season, "Bachelor in Paradise" has led to an engagement.

After production on the show wrapped, Derek Peth proposed to Taylor Nolan during the taping of a reunion special, which aired Monday, and she accepted.

Though Nolan told Peth that she didn't want to ever get engaged in front of an audience, he was determined to surprise her -- and it worked.

"It didn't matter where we were or who we were with, but it was a moment for the two of us, and nothing else mattered in that moment," Nolan said. "I was so surprised. I didn't think that he was gonna do it. I thought there was like a five to three percent chance that something might happen, but I did not think it would be a proposal."

"I was so confused," she added. "I blacked out!"

Peth, 30, and Nolan, 24, became an item early on in the season and knew they had something special from the start. Since filming ended, they've spent time getting to know each other and one another's families. (Yes, both sides approve of the coupling, they said.)

Peth added that those extra weeks together made it easier for them to decide what they wanted from their relationship. Before he knew it, she said, they were discussing what type of ring she'd want if he were to propose, and he found himself selecting a "timeless" diamond ring from designer Neil Lane.

"This didn't come from nowhere, and the amount of time we've been able to spend with each either is quite honestly more than any other 'Bachelor' couple had spent up to this point in time," he said. "I think it's really awesome that we were like blessed with the opportunity to do this in a more normal way -- even though it's still not very normal!"

Now, the two are trying to figure out what's next -- and that doesn't necessarily include a big, televised wedding yet. Peth said he's planning to move to New York City for his career, and Nolan will join him to see how she likes life in the Big Apple, too.

"We're just honestly enjoying each other and are in no rush for marriage or kids or moving in with each other," she said. "Things are really crazy right now and once things feel a little more settled, we'll see where that goes."
