Legendary actress Lauren Bacall died Tuesday at the age of 89 and celebrities from multiple generations from Barbara Streisand to Mia Farrow remembered the Hollywood starlet.

The icon leaves behind an incomparable legacy that music and acting legends won't soon forget.

Oscar winner Natalie Portman brought up the wisdom Bacall passed on to her when the two worked together.

In fact, the icon helped Portman in her first directing effort.

"Lauren Bacall's strength, wit and talent matched her extreme beauty. I had the great fortune that she so generously allowed me to direct her in my first short film," she told ABC News via a statement. "It was a true honor to watch her act up close - her sense of humor, timing and imagination were apparent in every moment. I will never forget the gift of her trust in me and the inimitable and vast talent she had. My deepest condolences to her loved ones."

Streisand added via EW, "What a terrible loss for us all. First Robin who was a genius and now Lauren. It was my privilege to have known her, to have acted with her, and to have directed her. And, most of all, to have had her as a wise and loving friend. She was an original. Even with all those great films we can visit again and again, she will be missed."
