Madden posted an Instagram of him cuddling an adorable puppy, with the caption: "Rule #1 When you're away from home working and you meet a puppy, always take pics to send to Bae."
Madden and his twin brother Joel Madden are in Australia this week on the set of "The Voice Australia," where they are judges.
Whether he will be bringing a four-legged friend back with him remains to be seen. But it's clear Madden's heart is back home.
"Good morning Hunny," he later captioned a selfie from the car.
The actress, 42, and the rocker, 35, tied the knot back in early January in Beverly Hills, California.
As a symbol of their love, Madden got his wife's name tattooed on his chest last month.
"Thinking bout you ... #LuckyMan," Madden wrote on Instagram with a pic of the new ink.
