In November 2010, ABC News and People magazine launched the "Best in Film" vote, a nationwide popular vote for the best English-language films ever made. We received over 500,000 votes in categories like the best film of all time, the greatest character, the best animated movie, the most romantic couple and more. The results will be revealed during a special two-hour ABC News broadcast on March 22.
Now, two lucky movie fans, who voted in all 15 categories of the "Best in Film" survey, have won a trip to Hollywood on Oscar weekend, and other prizes.
About Our Winners:
Kristin Rice, a 27-year-old movie lover and seminary student at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, in Vancouver, Wash., names "Singin' in the Rain" and "Apollo 13" as her favorite movies of all time. Rice loves to explore new places, which works out perfectly because she has never been to Los Angeles! Rice grew up in Kingsford, Mich., and will bring one of her closest friends, Megan, with her on this exciting trip to Hollywood!
Vicky Boackle, 57, is a neurosurgery nurse from Trussville, Ala. Her first career was as a police officer. While not working, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, laughing and helping them with their homework. Boackle's favorite movies are "Steele Magnolias," "The Shawshank Redemption," "Titanic" and "When Harry Met Sally." Joining her on this L.A. adventure is her mother, Eva, whom she says is a great travel companion. Boackle is most looking forward to rubbing elbows with the stars at "The Night of 100 Stars Awards Gala" and also attending "Good Morning America" as a VIP.
What They Won:
The winners of the "Best in Film" giveaway won round trip airfare for themselves and a guest, a two night hotel stay in Los Angeles, VIP audience viewing of the "Good Morning America" post-Oscar broadcast on Feb. 28, a one year subscription to People magazine, and the ultimate Hollywood party experience at "The Night of 100 Stars Awards Gala."
About the Party:
Our winners will attend "The Night of 100 Stars Awards Gala" at the Beverly Hills Hotel's Crystal Ballroom on Feb. 27. Boackle, Rice and their guests will arrive at the gala and walk the celebrity-filled red carpet. There will also be a formal sit-down dinner where our winners will be seated among the stars to watch the awards.
