— -- Bobbi Kristina Brown's family had been concerned that she was "in trouble" before she was found unconscious in a bathtub this past January.

The late 22-year-old's aunt, Pat Houston, said they were making plans to help her, but they weren't able to act quickly enough.

"When we really found out that Krissy was in trouble we were really making plans to do something about it," she told Entertainment Tonight. "It just came a little too late."

It was not clear what "trouble" Houston was referring to.

After remaining unconscious for more than five months, Brown died on July 26. Afterward, her estate filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Brown's former boyfriend, Nick Gordon, whom they have accused of drugging Brown and placing her in the bath tub. Gordon has dismissed all allegations as "false" and "frivolous" and requested that the lawsuit be dismissed.

Meanwhile, Houston is still trying to grapple with her niece's death.

"You have to love yourself," Houston said she'd like to tell her niece. "You have to call on people and not allow someone to divide you and then conquer you."
