'Teen Mom 2' Victim Says Jenelle Evans Was in a Jealous Fit
Brittany Truett says Jenelle Evans was "really sweet" before reality fame.
March 29, 2011 — -- Brittany Truett, the woman punched by "Teen Mom 2" star Jenelle Evans, says the reality diva attacked her in a fit of jealousy because Evans' sometime boyfriend was flirting with Truett.
Evans, 19, was caught on video punching Truett in her Oak Branch, N.C., hometown. Evans was arrested after the video surfaced and charged with simple assault, ABC Affiliate WWAY reported.
Truett said that the fight between the young women was over Evans' on again, off again boyfriend Kieffer Delp. Delp was arrested the same day as the fight for cocaine possession.
"He was at my house and hitting on me and she found out about it and called me a liar," Truett said. "I was upset, scared...shocked...the people who came with her brought the cameras to videotape it."
On the tape, after a friend pushes Evans into Truett, Evans throws the first punch. Screams can be heard from Evans' friends encouraging the fight.
Evans eventually pins Truett on the ground, repeatedly punching her in the face. Truett grabs a hold of Evans hair and doesn't let go until one of Evans friend threatens to stomp on her face.
Truett, a teenage mother herself, was left with bruises and pressed charges against Evans.
"She's going to pay for what she did," Truett said.
Truett and the young woman who pushed Evans, Brittany Maggard, were also arrested.
Maggard told TMZ that she wanted to see a brawl.
Evans' attorney, Dustin Sullivan, told ABC News that his client might be the victim of a set up.
"There are some indicators that Jenelle was set up from the beginning," Sullivan said.
Truett denies those allegations.
"No, it's definitely not [a set-up]...It's not worth it to me for 15 minutes of fame just for being beat up," Truett said.
Truett, a former friend of Evans, said she's seen a change in Evans since she joined MTV's reality show.
Evans, the mother of 1-year-old Jace, found reality fame first on MTV's "Sixteen and Pregnant" and now on "Teen Mom 2." Throughout this season of the show, Evans is shown grappling with signing over custody of her son to her mother.
"She used to be a really sweet girl, outgoing, fun to be around...since she's been on the show, she's got a big head and she's been angry at the world," Truett said.
Evans is also facing drug possession and breaking and entering charges from an arrest in January.
In recent weeks, she has escorted her on-again, off-again boyfriend Delp to face assault charges she had previously filed against him.
