— -- Chelsea Handler posted a topless photo of herself on Instagram Thursday to highlight the different reactions social media has to men and women.

In the photo, she imitated Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose topless horse riding pic has become an Internet sensation.

After being up for a few minutes, it was taken down by Instagram.

Handler, 39, responded to the photo being deleted with a picture of the message she received and her own opinion.

The picture shows that Handler's photo was "removed because it doesn't follow our Community Guidelines," Instagram wrote to the comedian.

"If a man posts a photo of his nipples, it's ok, but not a woman? Are we in 1825?" Handler captioned the new pic.

A request for comment from Handler's rep was not immediately returned to ABC News.
