The couple ended their marriage in December after nearly 20 years.

The following day, Banderas, 56, returned the warm wishes (in Spanish) via Twitter. The actor's message read, "Happy birthday Melanie. A loving hug from Marbella." He paired it with a photo of the former couple with their daughter, Stella.
