May 4, 2011 — -- Millions of moms will celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday. One may do so with a few more butterflies and exclamation points than the rest.

Mariah Carey, 41, and Nick Cannon, 30, welcomed twins last weekend. Today, after asking her Twitter followers to guess their names, Carey revealed them on her official website: Moroccan Scott Cannon (her son) and Monroe Cannon (her daughter).

Monroe was named after Marilyn Monroe, one of Carey's inspirations. Moroccan was derivied from the top floor of Carey's New York City apartment, which features Moroccan-inspired decor and was the site of Cannon's marriage proposal.

From announcing her pregnancy to unveiling her childrens' names, it seems like everything associated with Carey's pregnancy has been an event. She even coined a word for the babies before they were born -- "dembabies," which she scrawled on her growing belly along with a butterfly, then tweeted a photo of her handiwork to her more than four million followers.

Carey -- well, a representative of Carey's -- also took to Twitter to break the news of the twins' birth: "Congratulations to Mariah & Nick on the birth of #dembabies!! Born, April 30th at 12:07pm ET. Mommy, Daddy & #dembabies are all doing fine!"

Cannon shared his sentiments on his Twitter page: "My wife just gave me the most incredible anniversary gift ever in life! I won't ever be able to top this!"

Oh, but he can try. With Mother's Day around the corner, the couple that's known for celebrating so many occasions in larger-than-life fashion is sure to do something over-the-top. Cases in point:

"As my fans know, I love the ocean, and I love dolphins," Carey told Life & Style. "But I never dreamed I'd be sitting fireside in a copper tub watching schools of wild dolphins passing by throughout the day!"

The couple rolled up in a black Rolls-Royce -- Cannon's Christmas gift to Carey. Inside, guests sipped Angel champagne (whose retail price ranges from $980 to $250,000 per bottle) and gave Carey gifts, including two nearly life-size stuffed giraffes and two chairs hand-made for the twins, according to People magazine.

Reports claim that the couple spent between $100,000 and $1 million on the nurseries, which include a menagerie of exotic stuffed animals (those towering giraffes are unwrapped and ready to go) and, in Bel-Air, a hand-painted ceiling with "orangey-pink clouds in a blue sky with golden stars twinkling," as Carey told Life & Style.

But when they're not napping in their reported $30,000 cribs, Carey plans to teach her twins to value things other than designer champagne, expensive spa treatments, and six-figure nurseries.

"It's going to be a delicate balance between raising them around glitz and glamour and keeping them grounded," she told Life & Style.
