• Superheroes' Leading Ladies

    Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal)
The latest leading lady wooing a superhero is indie screen queen Maggie Gyllenhaal. In the latest installment of the Batman saga, "The Dark Knight," Gyllenhaal takes over for Katie Holmes in the role of Rachel Dawes, the Gotham prosecutor who is torn between District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckart) and Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale, right). Gyllenhaal, who has won critical acclaim for her roles in indie flicks "Secretary" and "Stranger Than Fiction," lives with fiance Peter Saarsgard and their 2-year-old daughter, Ramona, in Brooklyn, New York, keeping below the Hollywood radar. But after winning the heart of Gotham's crime fighter in the highly anticpated film, this bright-eyed actress may find it a little harder to hide.
