1969: Height of the Hippies

On Aug. 15, more than 500,000 hippies descend on Yasgur's Farm in Woodstock, N.Y., for three days of music and peace. For many, it exemplified the counterculture of the 1960s. The legendary event was captured in a 1970 movie and in songs by Joni Mitchell and Crosby Stills Nash and Young. (AP Photo)
