After the 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of hip-hopper Grandmaster Flash, this week's induction of pop culture icon Madonna pushed the definition of "rock 'n' roll" even further. At 49, the pop diva is gearing up to release a new album that will feature collaborations with hot young thing Justin Timberlake, who spoke at the induction ceremony Monday. The new album, with its hip-hop flavor, represents the most recent reincarnation of the material girl, who broke onto the music scene in the '80's with her dance hits "Everybody" and "Lucky Star."
In Timberlake's speech, he told an anecdote about the singer giving him a B-12 shot when he wasn't feeling well one day at the studio. He ended his speech by saying, "Madonna is the shot in the ass when we really need it." (Jason DeCrow/ AP Photo )
