ABC News' Bob Woodruff has been following Singh and Patel’s unlikely journey long before it became a Hollywood film -- first meeting them in 2009 at spring training in Florida.

Last summer, Woodruff traveled with Patel back to his hometown in Varanasi, India, to see how American baseball has forever changed his and his family’s life.

But perhaps no one is more transformed than the hard-charging sports agent who once judged success on contracts and money.

“I’m lucky, I’m lucky,” Bernstein said. “A lot of guys don’t get the chance I got, the wake-up call that I got. ... If ‘Million Dollar Arm’ didn’t come along, I could have coasted my entire life just doing what I was doing and thinking I was blissfully happy, not even realizing this other world that was out there for me.”

Watch ABC News' Bob Woodruff’s journey in search of the Million Dollar Arm on "Nightline" tonight at 12:35 a.m. ET.
