— -- Richard Simmons fans were shocked when reports surfaced concerned the fitness guru and why he hasn't been seen publicly in months.

Well, fans can breathe easier today.

Simmons, 66, who was last photographed at an event in January, has actually just been injured and is doing okay, despite his current situation.

"Richard Simmons has been sidelined with a knee injury for the past several months", Michael Catalano, Richard’s long-time manager, told ABC News.

Catalano added, "I spoke with Richard earlier today and he asked me to convey the following message: 'I am so touched by the outpouring of love and concern I have received today. I have had a tough time dealing with this injury, as it is keeping me from doing what I truly love to do and that is to teach classes around the world. I know I will see you all soon!'"

One can only hope that Simmons, who had surgery years ago for his right knee, will get the help he needs and be back in action soon.

TMZ was the first to report Simmons' absence from the public eye.
