Ryan Adams Releases Cover Album of Taylor Swift's '1989'

— -- Taylor Swift fans can experience her "1989" album in an entirely different way. Rocker Ryan Adams just released a cover album of Swift's top-selling album, which includes acoustic renditions of hits like "Shake It Off," "Blank Space" and "Wildest Dreams."

The 40-year-old singer-songwriter put a spin on Swift's songs with his own stripped-down arrangements.

Adams spoke about the "1989" album today in an interview with radio personality Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show.

In a preview of the interview posted by NME, Adams revealed that he wanted his "1989" covers album to resemble Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album, "Nebraska."

"I got back to LA, it was around Christmas time. I was totally bummed out and I bought a four track cassette recorder," said Adams. "And I was like, I’m going to make '1989' like 'Nebraska' style. Just acoustic guitar, bunch of spring reverb, just me."

Swift has shown support and enthusiasm about the cover album since the project was first announced in August on Adams' Instagram.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, the "Shake It Off" singer expressed her surprise and excitement about the album.

"When I first heard that Ryan was going to be covering my entire album, I couldn’t believe it," said Swift. "It’s such an honor that he would want to take my stories and lyrics and give them a new life. He’s gotten some of the best musicians together to record this album and if the clips he’s released are any indication, this is going to be something really special.”

Ever since Adams revealed the "1989" release date last week, Swift has been counting down the hours until the album release by re-tweeting fans and posting funny memes to her Twitter page.
