— -- On the hit series “Scandal,” Washington, D.C., crisis manager extraordinaire Olivia Pope is known for always being dressed to impress.

Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts got an up-close look at the show’s wardrobe and chatted with costume designer Lyn Paolo. Roberts asked her whether the cast had input into what their characters wear.

"Absolutely," Paolo said. "I mean, it's the script first. We read the script. We figure out what we're doing. And then it's usually me and the actor in the room, and then, you know, we brainstorm a little bit. 'What about this?' Because at this point, other than [creator] [Shonda Rhimes], they know this person so much better than I could possibly know them."

Pope's wardrobe room is a fashion lover's dream come true.

Roberts saw an entire gallery of shoes, and an array of clothes — including Pope's loungewear, such as her familiar silk pajamas — and a showstopping black and white gown that the character wore to a formal White House event.

Paolo said the palette of Pope's wardrobe is important.

"We do try to use color to express those moments of conflict. I mean, when she's being Olivia Pope the white knight, she's in white. When her world gets a little muddy, she's in grays and navy blues," Paolo said.

Pope is played by Kerry Washington.
