Children Books Made Into Movies

Director Spike Jonze is bringing the beloved children's picture book to the big screen in which a boy named Max dresses in a wolf costume and travels in a sailboat to the land of the Wild Things, where furry creatures roam a vast wilderness. "Where the Wild Things Are" was written by Maurice Sendak in 1963 and has been one of 10 all-time bestselling books for children since the 1970s. "Children are very complex beings. They're not all fun and games and volleyballs and Nerf guns," Producer Tom Hanks said. "They kind of experience bigger mood swings than adults do because they haven't had any experience yet with loneliness or bitterness or confusion."
