Jan. 12, 2011 — -- Most mothers have to offer up an Xbox to get a hug from their 18-year-old son. Not Stephanie Seymour.

The supermodel, 41, and her son, Peter Brant Jr., 18, provoked "ewws!" across the Internet after photographs of them hugging and kissing on a beach in St. Barts appeared online. In one photograph, Brant Jr. appears to be kissing Seymour on the mouth and brushing his hand over her breast.

In his book, that's OK. On Tuesday, Brant Jr. (Seymour's eldest son with her current and second husband, billionaire Peter Brant) rebuked his virtual critics on his Facebook fan page and released a statement to the press.

"I would just like to say that these pictures have been taken completely out of context, my mother and i are very close as she is with all her children," he wrote, grammatical errors included. "she often hugs and kisses me and my siblings in an manner that is intimate, any mother in the world does the same. that day on the beach we walked around with each other completely aware of the presence of photographers there."

Brant Jr. added that because he's gay, it's different.

"We have nothing to hide and with that in mind I would like to say that I am openly gay," he wrote. "At my age my mother and I are almost like friends and I feel open to talk to her about anything (and yes our relationship may be different because of my sexuality)."
