August 9 -- R&B singer Bobby Brown was rushed to a New Jersey hospital today for treatment of a seizure but was released 90 minutes later, USA Today reports.

His wife, Whitney Houston, accompanied him to Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Houston's publicist, Nancy Seltzer, blamed the seizure on intense heat and a hectic recording schedule. "He's fine, he's back home getting a little rest and looking forward to going back into the studio," Seltzer told the newspaper.

The couple has a history of drug- and alcohol-related issues, including possession of marijuana charges for Whitney Houston in January 2000, which were later dismissed, and a 75-day stint in jail for Brown in 2000 after he broke his probation (stemming from 1996 drunken driving charges).

Brown got his start as a member of the '80s boy band New Edition and went solo in 1987.
