July 18 -- Supermodel Niki Taylor is home and ready to begin recuperating. The 26-year-old model was at death's door after being badly hurt in an Atlanta car crash in April and underwent several life-saving surgeries on her lungs and liver at Atlanta's Grady Memorial Hospital.

"Words cannot express the gratitude in my heart for Dr. [Jeffrey] Nicholas and everyone at Grady who worked so hard to save my life. I am very grateful," Taylor said in a statement.

On Tuesday, she returned home to Davie, Fla., her manager said, where the mother of two will begin physical therapy.

In June, Taylor was transferred from the hospital to a rehabilitation facility. The former face of Liz Claiborne clothing had returned to Grady Memorial Hospital in early July for a procedure to drain fluid that had collected around her liver, her manager, Lou Taylor, who is not a relation, said in a statement.

Taylor was initially hospitalized in critical condition in late April, when a Nissan Maxima she was riding in crashed into a utility pole. The driver of the car, a friend of Taylor's, said the accident occurred as he was reaching down to grab his cell phone. Taylor was wearing her seatbelt and did not seem hurt at first, but was later found to have sustained internal injuries.
