July 3 -- Oasis singer Liam Gallagher and his girlfriend, Nicole Appleton, welcomed a baby boy on Monday. The boy, whom they've named Gene, is Gallagher's second son. That means there's now another set of Gallagher brothers in the world, perhaps paving the way for a new band of battling siblings like dear old pop Liam and uncle Noel

Former All Saints star Nicole, 26, gave birth at 1 p.m., and the couple named their son Gene Appleton Gallagher, they said in a statement issued by Gallagher's publicist. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces. "Both mother and son are doing very well, and the new parents are thrilled at his safe arrival," the statement said. The baby is Appleton's first child; Gallagher already has a son, Lennon, with ex-wife Patsy Kensit. Appleton was previously engaged to Gallagher's arch rival, singer Robbie Williams. Her sister Natalie, also of the band All Saints, is engaged to another musical Liam, Liam Howlett of Prodigy. The Gallagher brothers are playing a few small gigs in Britain this summer to mark their 10th anniversary as Oasis. The band will play six shows in London, Manchester, and Glasgow in October by way of thanks to the three cities that played a key part of their early success. Glasgow is the city where the band clinched its first record deal after being spotted by Creation Records boss Alan McGee. Manchester is the band's hometown, and London is where it first played gigantic Wembley Stadium.
