June 27 -- ATLANTA (Reuters) Supermodel Niki Taylor, who was badly hurt in a car crash in April, has been released from the hospital after a two-month stay, her manager said on Tuesday.

Taylor, who suffered severe abdominal injuries, was released from the hospital and "admitted to an undisclosed physical rehabilitation facility in Atlanta, where she is expected to be for the next several weeks," the model's manager, Lou Taylor, who is not related to the model, said in a statement.

No other details were given on the condition of the 26-year-old model, who has appeared on the covers of Vogue, Elle, Allure, and Marie Claire magazines.

Taylor had been hospitalized in critical condition since late April, when a Nissan Maxima she was riding in crashed into a utility pole. In early May, she underwent several hours of surgery for severe liver and abdominal injuries.

Last week, Taylor was moved from intensive care to a private room.

The driver of the car said the accident occurred as he was reaching down to grab his cell phone. Taylor was wearing her seat belt and did not initially seem badly hurt but was later found to have internal injuries.

Taylor's modeling career took off when she was just 13. She was the face of the Liz Claiborne clothing line from 1996 until spring 2000.

In July 1995, her younger sister and fellow model, Krissy Taylor, died suddenly of a rare heart disease called right ventricular dysplasia. She was 17.
