June 6 -- The rivalry between Latina actresses Salma Hayek and Jennifer Lopez continues, as Hayek was elected sexiest female star over the booty-blessed Lopez in a recent poll.

Hayek and Lopez have clashed over the course of their young careers; the two were working on rival biopics about Mexican painter Frida Kahlo and once got into a printed tiff over their heritage. "People say 'Latino' like we're all identical, but Jennifer Lopez is American. She's from New York. She doesn't have an accent," Hayek once sniffed to People magazine.

Now the Mexican beauty has ousted Lopez from her perch. People en Español magazine's poll of U.S. Hispanics found Hayek's popularity soaring over Puerto Rican-born Lopez.

On the male side, last year's top man, pop sensation Ricky Martin, was dethroned by Mexican soap star Fernando Colunga.

Cuban-American diva Gloria Estefan, who resides in Miami, was also a big favorite: She won in five categories, including Most Well-Liked and Most Trustworthy Celebrity.

The magazine surveyed 1,600 U.S. Hispanics about their favorite stars Latino or otherwise for its second annual Hot Celebrity Monitor.

Lopez dropped from No. 1 to third behind Colombian model Sofia Vergara despite recently having the No. 1 movie and CD in the United States.

French-Canadian star Celine Dion was voted favorite female singer while Puerto Rican salsero Marc Anthony was named favorite male singer. Spanish actor Antonio Banderas (who is set to join Hayek in her Kahlo project) took top honors in the favorite actor category and Julia Roberts was a non-Hispanic winner, winning as favorite actress.
