May 30 -- 'N Sync, Britney, Faith Hill Test Out New Lyricist

Pop stars 'N Sync, Faith Hill, and Britney Spears will have a new lyricist on board for a CD due out this coming holiday season Pope John Paul II. The singers will read the words of his prayers on a spoken word CD, which will serve as a companion to the seven-volume collection of writings, The Private Prayer Books of Pope John Paul II. The 81-year-old leader of the Roman Catholic religion has not announced any trade-off plans to do a guest spot on any of the singers' albums. Portions of the profits from the CD will be donated to charities selected by the Vatican.

Blink Singer Pleased With Wedding Band

Blink-182 singer Tom DeLonge was brought to tears at his wedding Saturday near San Diego not because he was marrying longtime girlfriend Jennifer Jenkins, but because she had booked his favorite band, Jimmy Eat World, to play at the reception. "I was in tears," DeLonge said in the June 11 issue of People magazine. "I cried more than any girl ever cried. That was the gnarliest thing that ever happened to me." Bandmate Mark Hoppus was one of his groomsmen at the ceremony.

Sinéad Backs Out of Wotapalava Tour

Citing "unforeseeable family commitments," Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor has backed out of an appearance on this summer's Wotalpalava tour. The tour, the first openly gay pop music festival tour of the United States, will still feature the Pet Shop Boys, Rufus Wainwright, Soft Cell, and the Magnetic Fields, as well as select appearances from the Village People and Gloria Gaynor. Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys expressed disappointment at the cancellation, but said, "We probably have a very good replacement," which will be announced soon. dollar of each ticket will benefit the work of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest lesbian and gay advocacy organization.
