May 14 -- Limp Bizkit's Durst to Direct Feature Film

Fred Durst, lead singer of Limp Bizkit, has found another use for his loud mouth — shouting commands from the director's chair. The rap-rocker, who has directed several music videos, will helm his first feature film, according to Variety. The movie, titled Life Without Joe, is about the adventures of some high-school football players in a small town. Work on the production will begin this fall, after Limp Bizkit concludes its summer touring.

Simmons Calls Rap Summit

Def Jam founder Russell Simmons is calling for the hip-hop elite to meet and discuss the lyrics, content, and advertising of rap music. The meeting, to be held June 12 and 13 in New York, is being held "to address various issues affecting the very survival of the integral spirit of hip-hop music," Simmons said in a statement. "We are taking a pro-active approach to deal with the serious issues that are facing the hip-hop industry." Expected to attend are fellow moguls Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, Master P, as well as rappers Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, KRS-One, Q-Tip, and Common.

Beyoncé Plugs L'Oréal

Beyoncé Knowles, the 19-year-old leader of pop trio Destiny's Child, has signed on to become the latest face for cosmetics company L'Oréal. The singer recently appeared in an MTV hip-hop adaptation of Carmen, and she's leading her band as the headliner on a Total Request Live tour. Perhaps making her bandmates a bit nervous, Knowles told Newsweek, "I just hope people don't get sick of us. I'm sick of us and I'm in Destiny's Child. … There has to be some mystery so people are excited when they see you." Last year, two members of the pop group were canned and replaced with two new faces — one of whom subsequently dropped out.
