May 2 -- Nicole Kidman, TV star? Britain's biggest TV network, Granada, is hoping the Aussie actress will star in a Down Under Christmas episode of its wildly popular Cold Feet series.

"We haven't asked her yet, but there is a part for an Australian actress to play a romantic role in the new series, and we're looking for someone high-profile," a Granada spokeswoman told Reuters. "Kylie Minogue's name has also been mentioned."

We're not sure the mention of Kylie will help Granada's case, but maybe the prospect of a home-style barbecue will. Kidman allegedly misses her native Australia, where her family still resides.

"We'll be showing an Australian Christmas, with turkey barbecues on the beach," the spokeswoman said.

Cold Feet, which stars Helen Baxendale and James Nesbitt, took last year's Best Comedy Drama Award at the British Comedy Awards. The saga of middle-class angst among a group of 30-something friends has been a big hit around the world.

Kidman is definitely a star in England, where she made a triumphant (and partially nude) West End debut in 1998's production of David Hare's The Blue Room. She's set to return to the London stage this summer, for Henrik Ibsen's The Lady From the Sea.
