April 12 -- Matt Damon suffered a cracked rib and blistered hands while training for his golfer role in The Legend of Bagger Vance, but that apparently didn't sour the actor on the links.

However, golf is proving to be a dangerous sport for Damon, who had to flee a Las Vegas green Monday after several gunshots rang out. The Oscar winner was playing the 16th hole when shots were fired, causing him and his tee-time buddy, John Lodge of the Moody Blues, to jump into a patch of bushes, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Police were called about an illegal shooting, but nothing suspicious was found. One source told the paper that five or six shots had been fired.

Damon is in Sin City filming Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven, with Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Don Cheadle.
