March 29 -- On Tuesday, TV viewers decided it was high time that that other Cusack sibling got some attention, making Joan (sister of John, natch) a new ratings splash.

What About Joan, which features the Academy Award-nominated actress as a Chicago high-school teacher, made its network a winner as well: ABC won the night among adults 18 to 49.

Joan was the first post-Dharma & Greg series to actually outdo its lead-in. According to Variety, What About Joan outdid hippie laffer Dharma & Greg by an impressive 17 percent.

The romantic comedy, which has gotten mixed reviews, won in its 9:30 p.m. time slot in total viewers (14.9 million) and in the precious adults 18 to 49 demographic (6.8 rating, 16 share). (One 18 to 49 ratings point represents 1.24 million viewers, or 1 percent of the U.S. total.)

This was ABC's best 18 to 49 average on a Tuesday since Jan. 9 when reality series The Mole premiered and its best Tuesday showing in total viewers since The Geena Davis Show debuted in October.

Cusack was last seen starring alongside her brother in the music geek romancer High Fidelity.
