U-571 Director May Be Tapped for T3

March 27 -- U-571 director Jonathan Mostow may take the director's seat on Terminator 3.
After James Cameron bailed on the third installment of the sci-fi franchise, several directors have been rumored to helm the third film, including Ridley Scott and David Fincher.
According to Variety, Mostow, who also directed the thriller Breakdown, had "several strong meetings" with star Arnold Schwarzenegger. T2 star Edward Furlong will also co-star in the third film, but Linda Hamilton has declined to reprise her role as Sarah Connor.
The film is being produced by Intermedia, which has another high-profile sequel, Basic Instinct 2, idling until Sharon Stone and director John McTiernan can agree on a leading man.
