January 30 -- Naomi Judd Assaults StripperWynonna may cultivate a wild-woman image these days, but apparently the Judd family never threw a birthday bash at Chippendales, judging from mother Naomi Judd's outrage when she spied erotic male dancer Christopher Pearce straddling teenager Emily Westermeier at a Brentwood, Tenn., eatery last week. "I was so stunned, I can't even tell you," Judd told Nashville paper The Tennessean. The singer walked over and put her hand on Pearce's shoulder to tell him to stop, and he lost his balance and fell. Westermeier and Judd began arguing it turned out Pearce was hired by her parents for her birthday. No charges were filed.

Breeders Plan Charity GigPop rockers The Breeders, who surprised Los Angeles with a reunion show in December, are giving fans an advance notice for their next gig. Ex-Pixie Kim Deal, sister Kelley, and the band will play a benefit for the Children of the Night charity Feb. 25 at the Hot Pants Club, the same venue they played in December. Also performing will be Mexican-American Elvis impersonator El Vez and former Pixies drummer David Lovering. The Breeders are planning to head to the studio in May with producer Steve Albini to record their first new material since 1993's Last Splash.

Depeche Mode Previews LPDepeche Mode will place MP3 samples of its new album, Exciter, on its official Web site (depechemode.com) beginning tomorrow, Jan. 31. The group will post two new clips a day, in advance of the April 23 release of its first album since 1997's Ultra. Already posted on the site is a sample of "Dream On," the first single from the album, reminiscent of the sound on 1986's Black Celebration.
