December 28 -- Sunny blond actress Kate Hudson has received critical kudos for playing a rock star groupie in Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous, but in real life, where she's a lot more, well, famous, she's getting to marry the rock stars.

Hudson, 21, was given a diamond ring by 34-year-old Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson in August, and despite her earlier denials that the rock signaled wedding bells, rumors abound that the two will tie the knot on New Year's Eve in Aspen, Colo.

Both the New York Post and US Weekly claim that the marriage will take place at a ranch owned by Hudson's mother, Goldie Hawn, and Hawn's companion, Kurt Russell.

Newlyweds Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones will apparently be in attendance, as will Sally Field (the mother of Hudson's ex-beau, Eli Craig) and Chevy Chase and his wife, Jane.

The event will be preceded by a fashion show featuring sable and mink creations by Russian designer Helen Yarmak, the Post reports, with the furs being sold to raise money for impoverished women in East Timor. Does that mean we can expect to see Ms. Kate decked out in a sable-trimmed satin gown? Hopefully no animal rights activists will be among the wedding guests, or things could get ugly.

Hudson has been busy of late: In October, she joined the cast of war drama remake Four Feathers, which recently began filming in North Africa. Last week, she was heralded with a Golden Globe nomination as best supporting actress for Famous.

Perhaps more of the wedding planning fell to her fiancé Robinson has had more free time than expected the Black Crowes' tour with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was cut short in September because of Page's back problems. The cross-generational musical union had been a shot in the arm for both acts, as their live shows captured on the well-received double album Live at the Greek were sellout hits with fans.
