Carrey and Zellweger Break It Off

December 13 -- Jim Carrey's heart may be two sizes too small for apple-cheeked actress Renée Zellweger. The couple has called it quits after one year of dating, their publicists have confirmed.

Syndicated gossip show Access Hollywood let the cat out of the bag Tuesday, noting that Zellweger's publicist confirmed that the pair split up several weeks ago. Zellweger, 31, and Carrey, 38, began dating after wrapping the Farrelly brothers comedy Me, Myself, & Irene.

The grinning twosome appeared at several events promoting Carrey's star turn in Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas last month. Engagement rumors followed them for several months, sparked by Carrey's purchase of a $200,000 diamond "friendship ring" for his sweetie last January.

No concrete reason has been given for the breakup. Carrey's publicist would only note, "It's a private matter."
