December 6 -- Master P Bodyguard Arrested

Rapper and entrepreneur Master P has been paying for some high-caliber protection. His bodyguard, Kevin Bernard McDaniel, was arrested Monday in Richmond, British Columbia, after three handguns and ammunition were discovered during a routine baggage check at Vancouver International Airport, The Associated Press reported. "Anytime you bring firearms illegally into Canada, it's a serious offense," Constable Peter Thiessen of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police told the news service. McDaniel's lawyer said the weapons, which are registered to the bodyguard, were sent north by mistake, when they should have gone to Los Angeles. Master P, who released Ghetto Postage last week, is in Vancouver filming an episode of TV series Dark Angel.

Guns N' Roses Returns at Year's End

Axl Rose better hope his pipes as well as his new lineup for Guns N' Roses are in good working order. The band's first performance in seven years won't be a modest warm-up gig but a full-blown Las Vegas New Year's Eve concert. Online tickets for the gig, held at the House of Blues, have already sold out, though additional tickets will go on sale Dec. 8 in Las Vegas. Though former guitarist Slash has gone his own way, Rose has recruited some high-profile replacements Robin Finck has worked with Nine Inch Nails, and the mysterious Buckethead has played with bassist Bill Laswell and funkmaster Bootsy Collins.

Death Row, Suge Knight Nailed

Historic, embattled label Death Row Records was dealt another blow yesterday when a Los Angeles jury granted a $4.3 million verdict against it and co-founder Marion "Suge" Knight, according to Inside.com. Knight, who once ran the label with an iron fist, is responsible for more than $1 million of that sum, though he is behind bars for a 1996 probation violation. The jury found that the former managers of L.A. rapper Kurupt were defrauded by the label and its boss, according to the Web site. Despite numerous legal entanglements, the label has carried on, often flaunting the law. Most recently, it posted bootleg MP3s from the upcoming Snoop Dogg LP, Tha Last Meal, an act that Snoop's label, Priority Records, condemned as illegal.
