Sound Bites: Wyclef, Eels, Hootie

December 5 -- Wyclef to Rock Carnegie HallRapper-producer Wyclef Jean will be joined by guitarist Eric Clapton, singers Whitney Houston and Charlotte Church, and R&B trio Destiny's Child in his Jan. 19 Carnegie Hall benefit for the Wyclef Jean Foundation, a charity for the music education for children. The show, which is the first event headlined by a rapper at the prestigious New York venue, will be a revue of musical eras since the 1930s. The hip-hop star also plans to debut a new song, which he will perform with Clapton.

Eels Offer New Live LP

Quirky pop band the Eels will release a 60-minute live album through their official store, on the Web at eelsdirect.com. The 17-song LP includes material from the band's 2000 tour, as well as solo material from bandleader E, on his tour opening for Fiona Apple. Songs include "Not Ready Yet," "Climbing to the Moon," and "Susan's House."

Unreleased Hootie, Fastball Tracks on Anti-Gun Collection

Previously unreleased music from Hootie & the Blowfish, Fastball, and the now-defunct Toad the Wet Sprocket are among the 20 songs on Stop Handgun Violence, a compilation to benefit the organization of the same name, which seeks to publicize handgun violence and pass preventative legislation. Aside from five newly released tracks, the disc collects hits such as Sixpence None the Richer's "Kiss Me" and Bonnie Raitt's "I'm on Your Side."
