Jude Law, a murder victim in The Talented Mr. Ripley, is in talks to play a hit man in DreamWorks' Road to Perdition. The handsome Oscar nominee would be joining Tom Hanks and Tom Sizemore on the wrong side of the law (er, no pun intended) in the Depression-era gangster drama
American Beauty director Sam Mendes will helm Road, in which Hanks plays an assassin known as the Angel of Death whose work becomes personal when his wife and son are murdered.
Law is up for the role of Maguire, a hit man known as the Reporter. Sizemore, who seconded Hanks in Saving Private Ryan, has already signed to play gangster Al Capone.
The project is scheduled to shoot early next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Law is currently shooting A.I. for director Steven Spielberg and can be seen in the holiday release Enemy at the Gates.
