November 10 -- The high-concept film Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, from Being John Malkovich scribe Charlie Kaufman, is gearing up.

Mike Myers, who's long been attached to the project, is negotiating to star as Gong Show host Chuck Barris in the film, which is based on Barris' wacky and fictitious memoir about his secret life as a CIA hit man.

Last month, Renaissance Films agreed to pull the project out of turnaround, to finance the comedy, and to take over international distribution rights from Warner Bros. The film, which is budgeted at between $35 million and $40 million, does not yet have domestic distribution, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects) is in talks to helm the pic. Requiem for a Dream director Darren Aronofsky, who's negotiating to direct Batman: Year One, was previously said to be in the running for directorial duty, as were P.J. Hogan (Muriel's Wedding) and David Cronenberg (Crash).
