Thriller's Latest Milestone

November 1 -- You'd think that by now, anyone who wants a copy of Michael Jackson's Thriller has one, right? Wrong.

On Tuesday, the Recording Industry Association of American, which doles out gold and platinum awards, certified Thriller 26-times platinum, meaning that more than 26 million copies have been shipped to retail.

This ties the 1982 album with the Eagles' Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 for the best-selling album of all time. Jackson's Blood on the Dance Floor: History in the Mix was also certified platinum, bringing Jackson's total to 56 million albums sold.

Other multiplatinum certifications for the month of October included greatest-hits sets from both Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Tupac Shakur, both of which went nine-times platinum; Toni Braxton's Secrets (eight times); and Creed's Human Clay (seven times). The Dixie Chicks' Fly was also certified platinum seven times.

Madonna's latest album, Music, was certified gold, platinum, and double-platinum Oct. 25, while her self-titled debut went five-times platinum in the course of the month.
