Patch Adams Goes Psycho

October 13 -- Robin Williams' manic looniness has always struck us as a little over the top. Could the guy ever be, you know, dangerous, if left unrestrained? That's the question in One Hour Photo, in which the sometime Patch Adams will play an employee of a one-hour photo lab who develops a sick obsession with a young suburban family.

The pitch probably went a little something like this: "It's The Cable Guy meets What About Bob?, except that it's not supposed to be funny. And Robin Williams will be even scarier than Robert De Niro was in Cape Fear. Wait'll you see it!"

Actually, since big Bob's gone over to comedy these days (Analyze This, Meet the Parents), we guess there's room for Williams to poach on the Method actor's patented psycho screen persona.

Just signed on to be the object of Williams' unwelcome attention is Gladiator's regal Connie Nielsen, who'll play the wife and mother of the unlucky family, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Danish actress got some experience in the "unwelcome attention" department in the summer blockbuster, playing sister to a Roman emperor with some unhealthy designs on dear old sis.

Shooting on the film is slated to start Oct. 30 in Los Angeles, with Mark Romanek directing from his own script.
